One of
our aims at Conservative Central is to establish a Melbourne
Conservative Network.
This
network is not intended to be a formally organised political party.
Instead, the idea is to connect conservatives with each other so
that we can hold meetings, support conservative publications,
intervene in campaigns and issues of the day, and further develop
our ideas and understanding of conservative politics.
It is
also intended that the network be a broad gathering of
conservatives. This means that it's not necessary to agree with
everything on this website in order to join in. Some conservatives
may be more interested in gender issues, others in preserving the
constitution, others in issues of national identity.
The
first step in building the conservative network is to compile a list
of names of interested readers. We have already progressed to the
stage of holding social events, but we still need more readers to
add their name to the list for the network to make further advances.
We
therefore encourage readers who live in or around Melbourne to join
the list for the Melbourne Conservative Network. Adding your name
does not mean that you are obligated to do anything in the future,
and the list will of course be kept confidential.
To add
your name you simply need to email the webmaster of the site, Mark
Richardson. The minimum information we require is a contact name
(does not have to be your full name), an email address and the
suburb or area you live in. It's helpful if you also provide a phone
number or home address in case your email address changes but this
isn't necessary.
The
following is an example of what you might send:
Dear Mark,
re: Melbourne Conservative Network
list
Please add my details to the list. My
name is Tom Robertson, I live in Carlton and my email address is
robbo(at)bigpond.com
I can also be contacted on 0403 612
413.
Regards,
Tom
You
should receive a reply email within a fortnight confirming your
inclusion on the list. If you don't please resubmit your details.
I'd
like to thank readers who have already added their names to the
list. There is often a lot of public support for conservative ideas,
but without any organisation conservatives are often unable to build
up their influence or respond to issues of the day.
